However good the product, if it arrives dented or broken the whole experience ends in a one-star review. Good packing isn't about looks: it protects your future sales.
1. Pick a box that fits
A box that's too big lets the item slide around in transit; one that's too small leaves no room for cushioning. Aim for about 2–5 cm of space around the item for padding.
2. Match the cushioning to the product
Fragile items like glass bottles or cosmetics: at least two layers of bubble wrap, gaps filled with paper shred
Liquids: tighten the cap, tape around it and seal in a zip bag before wrapping
Clothing: a waterproof bag first, then a mailer or box
Electronics: double-box, or use moulded foam if you have it
3. Shake test before sealing
Close the flaps and shake gently. If you can still hear the item move, add more padding.
4. Tape in an H pattern
Tape along the centre seam and across both edges, top and bottom, so the box holds when it's stacked in transit.
5. Keep the shipping label flat and readable
Put it on the largest face, away from seams and tape, where the barcode scans cleanly.
6. Film every pack
Video from picking to sealing is key evidence in a dispute, such as a customer saying something was missing. It makes claims with the platform far easier.
Good packing is a small investment that prevents big costs like refunds and bad reviews.
